LSC centenary featured in US SNOW magazine

There is an excellent article about the LSC and our centenary celebrations in the glamorous US SNOW magazine which can be accessed here. The journalist who joined us in Mürren describes the club as;

Adventurous, aristocratic, and proudly British, The Ladies’ Ski Club was the original alpine disruptor, rocking the boat in a very male-dominated sport with a decidedly can-do attitude

The article is on pages 46 to 48.

Jaz Taylor of GB Telemark launch a crowd funder to raise funds for the upcoming season

Jaz Taylor, GB’s most successful telemarker with 45 World Cup podiums to her name, and an LSC supported athlete, has launched a crowd funder in conjunction with the other GB Telemark squad members to raise funds for GB to raise funds to support the GB Telemark athletes in competition and the performance development programmes on which they depend and also to encourage more athletes to become competitive telemark skiers for the future of the sport.

British telemark skiing is one of the great snowsport success stories and currently lies fifth internationally in the FIS Telemark World Cup tour national rankings. Telemark skiing receives no UK Sport funding, as it is currently not an Olympic sport, and as amateur competitors, all British telemark skiers are self-funded and have to find the money to cover training and competition costs themselves.

Please follow this link to find out more and to donate.

LSC athletes making a mark in New Zealand

A number of our LSC athletes have headed down under to get a second winter season in and there have been some fantastic results. Isla Ward came first and second in the NZ national champs slalom races and gained PBs in both. Isla is over there with team mates and fellow LSC athletes Charlotte Holmes and Honor Bartlett.

LSC centenary auction to raise funds for LSC athletes

As part of our centenary celebrations the club has very kindly been given a small number of items which we are auctioning to raise funds for our athletes. Donations include a day or half day’s skiing with some of our World Cup athletes, a painting of Flaine, a Ski Mo-Jo including personalised fitting, holiday apartment rental in Grindelwald, 2 Glyndebourne tickets with B&B accommodation, 3 night stays in a flat in Clerkenwell and a mews house in Stamford and 12 bottles of Swiss sparkling wine.

The auction is now open on line and can be accessed through the link on the members area here.
